Requesting an Observation/Job Shadowing Experience

Requirements:

  • To participate in any type of observation, you must be 18 years of age.
  • Observation requests are for educational or career exploration purposes only.

Observers must identify the department of interest and arrange the shadow opportunity directly with a Dartmouth Health staff member prior to submitting a request. It is the responsibility of the requester to secure a host. When we receive your request we will confirm with the DH department that they are able to host your observation experience. While many departments welcome observers, there are some departments that are not able to accommodate due to highly sensitive patient needs.

Once your request has been confirmed, we will send you an e-mail with links to the following onboarding requirements:

  • DH Experiential Learning Shadows and Co-Ops Policy
  • DH Confidentiality Agreement
  • Occupational Medicine and Drug Screening Requirements

You will need to review and sign all documents. Signed documents should be submitted prior to your observation experience by e-mailing studentexperiences@hitchcock.org.
